Hearty yet Healthy: Clean Homemade Maple Turkey Sausage!

You know how it is... some days you just need a hearty, filling, yummy--- yet still healthy--- breakfast to help kick start your week. Well, I don't know about you, but, for me, today was one of those days. We got another boatload of snow delivered here in Pittsburgh courtesy of the powers that be up above, and I needed something delicious to help me trudge through it this morning! So what clean eats breakfast recipe do I have for you today? Maple turkey sausage! Yum yum yum! Of course, if you're eating clean, you might think that you have to forego the deliciousness that is maple sausage (I mean really, have you seen some of the junk they're putting in the packaged stuff?), but this is a clean yet tasty alternative!

Recipe:
Maple Turkey Sausage (Serves 2; Makes 4 Patties)

8 Ounces 99% fat free lean ground turkey
2 Teaspoons maple syrup
1/2 Teaspoon sage
1/2 Teaspoon thyme
1/4 Teaspoon pepper

In a bowl, combine all ingredients until thoroughly blended. Form the maple turkey sausage mixture into 4 patties. In a pan over the stove, cook the patties until browned on both sides, ensuring that the patties are cooked all the way through (about 2 minutes on each side). Serve and enjoy!

I served mine with half of a veggie egg white frittata, and, man oh man, this was a great way to start my week. The sausage was perfectly spiced with just a touch of sweetness from the maple syrup. Totally delicious! Enjoy this one guys.
