Food for Thought

The following is a list of the videos in my ongoing "Food for Thought Friday" nutritional education series:

What Does Food Mean to You?
This video discusses the inherent meaning of food to us. Food, in and of itself, is physiologically meant to nourish, but we all know that food means so much more to us than that. That's why terms like comfort food, reward dinner, and "treating" ourselves exist! Throughout this video, I ask you to explore your thoughts about food, understand the origins of those thoughts, and suggest ways to reframe your view of food.

Workout Fuel: What to Eat Before, During, and After!
For those of you out there who exercise often, it's important to understand what to eat before, during, and after your workout so that you can, nutritionally, best fuel your body. Otherwise, you're not putting 100% into your workout, which means you're not getting 100% out of your workout either! Watch this video to find out my personal recommendations on food for workout fuel!

Artificial Sweeteners: Too Good to be True?
Nowadays, everything is packed with artificial sweeteners--- from sucralose (Splenda) to saccharin (Sweet N Low) to aspartame (Equal). While these low to no calorie sweeteners might seem like an alluring option to those who are trying to manage their weight, are artificial sweeteners too good to be true? This video delves into the research, their findings, and the Center for Science in the Public Interest's recommendations.

Food Labels & Food Claims: Making Informed Choices!
Have you ever been confused by what the terms organic, natural, and green mean on food labels? Have you ever wondered what to look for on a nutrition label? Are you curious about how to make the best food choices possible when shopping? Then this video is a must-see! It breaks down how to read food labels, how to understand food claims, and how to make informed food choices!

Macronutrients are the nutrients our bodies need in large amounts: carbohydrates, protein, and fats. This video covers everything you need to know about them--- why you need your macros, how much of them you need, and where you get them from. A must-watch for newbies to eating clean, and a great refresher for others!
